Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Juvederm and the Revolax filler?
Juvederm is a popular premium product developed by market leaders, Allergan. Allergen has over 60 years of experience in product manufacturing. The Juvederm range is the worlds leading Hyaluronic acid facial filler and is made using innovating technology. Juvederm facial fillers integrate with your own facial tissues to get natural looking and long lasting results. There are a range of different Juvederm products that will be used for different treatment areas (enquire for more details, this will be a discussion/decision made between you and your practitioner).
Duration is dependent on the facial filler used and the area treated.
Revolax is a newer filler to the market and was launched in 2012. It was created to deliver affordable quality by using premium technology dermal fillers, with a safe and low risk product that can compete with the industry giants in terms of ease of use, quality results and longevity. Since its launch Revolax has gained fast ground to become one of the leading fillers in South Korea, with its pioneering cross linking technology and unique consistency and stability.
Revolax uses non-animal based hyaluronic acid with the highest purity, and is a completely natural substance optimised to synchronise with human skin tissue. The malleable consistency creates immediate and long lasting volume and also allows the product to break down evenly with a natural finish. Revolax has a low percentage of product migration which means that it is more likely to stay close to the injection site with accuracy.
The duration of 'Revolax deep' (filler used by Laura for lip and face contouring) is said to be 12-18 months. However, Individual results will always vary.
How long can I expect the results of my filler treatment to last?
This depends on the product. Everyone will experience results differently and individual results will always vary, especially with different products - we are all unique individuals after all!
Filler products are made up of Hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally occurring in our own bodies and how our body interacts and integrates it within our skin is a unique and individual experience.
Generally speaking, you can expect your filler treatments to last from 3-12 months. You can expect premium filler treatments to last a little longer (approx 6-18 months, although some can last up to 24 months!). The filler gradually integrates and is absorbed within the body and you may wish to 'top up' your filler after a few months for maximum benefit.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural occurring substance that is found in virtually all of your body cells. HA clusters most densely in the skin (50%), however it is also found in the cartilage, connective tissue and in the synovial fluid that lubricates the bodys joints. HA is highly soluble and can hold water in greater quantities than its own weight.
Its immunological tolerance, ability to assist in the regeneration of collagen and excellent absorption properties make the HA molecule an excellent candidate for volumising and moisturising the skin. However, in its natural state it has a rapid turnover and degrades rapidly. It is therefore chemically modified for use in cosmetic treatments to prevent decomposition. This method turns HA from a liquid into a gel by cross linking the molecules. Cross linking the molecules allows the HA to fill wrinkles and maintain its shape for a longer period of time. The more links that are generated through the cross linking reaction, the longer it takes for the body to break it down.
HA facial fillers can be used to 'refresh' your look or 'enhance' your features.
